Pattern Cutting

Being able to cut garments out of single, continuous pieces of fabric, today, creating original volumes out of many small but perfectly formed geometrically shaped pieces or, indeed, creating one large geometrically shaped piece out of which the body appears to sprout seems to be the way forward. Circular shoulders steal the show at Dolce & Gabbana, and tiny rows of circles follow the seams of garments or cover their surfaces entirely at Christopher Kane. At Comme des Garçons, black and white pentagons create garments that look not entirely unlike deflated footballs - they give new meaning to the word fierce. Finally, leave it to Martin Margiela to work wonders with a circular collar that falls somewhere between Pierrot's and a flying

This time,

I will look at different cutting shapes for

this 2010 F/W collection.

Cushnie et Ochs uses black and white as the main colour.

Even though they are basic colour, their cutting technique

is not to be underestimated...

From the basic patterns of the dress and coat , they

play with taking off and taking in to create unusual shapes.

Pedro also uses clever cutting technique, which left minimum shape and line

to support the design. He also used well controlled colour blocking.

Narciso Rodriquez and TSE well mixed with flat pattern with draping technique

to make clean and minimal look.

This season has also various surface treatments besides to silhouette.

_Hole Punching_

Due to its complex surface design, the collection used black colour only.

Creating three dimensional space throughout slashing and opening the fabric.

_Multi Prints_

tsumori chisato created multi prints for her spring and summer collection. With its

selection of colours, it's well balanced even though their complex prints.

2010_F/W Coat & Jacket Trend_1

As my collection is for fall and winter, my eyes Can't take off from the

coats and Jackets.

This F/W collections from style.com has many clever designs for these...

first of all..

_Over sized coat_

this smoky Beige coat has simple shape but interesting cuts to look.

front zip up and side pockets are hidden with its cut and one colour. well matches with

textured dark brown pants.

_Cape-like- Jacket_

Is this a jacket or a coat? I'd say it's a jacket with sleeve-like cape.

It has been recreated for another way of making feminine military look.

_Asymmetrical cut jacket_

simple, but interesting collar shape with side button and the sleeve design.

aquascutum and Junya watanabe introduced ankle to floor length coats.
