Shape Magique by Comme des Garcons

Rei Kawakubo (Comme des Garcons)

"I want to create a kind of market where various creators from various fields gather together and encounter each other in an ongoing atmosphere of beautiful chaos: the mixing up and coming together of different kindred souls who all share a strong personal vision (HorynC. 2006)."

this designer collaborators are in a unique position to not only impose their design and creative viewpoint on a willing public, but also to impose more positive labour practices on these larger companies (HorynC. 2006).

Comme des Garcons _2010_s/s collection

Comme des Garcons specializes in anti-fashion, austere, sometimes deconstructed garments, sometimes lacking a sleeve or other component.

The reason why her work is inspirational is her works were an impressive presentation pulling something rich, romantic, and dramatically new out of the recognizable materials of her own past collection. The garments were all women’s wear but they were referenced current subjects—such as the tension between male and female relationships, and the stylistic interest in suiting, baroque fabrics and Victorian sleeves—demonstrated Kawakubo's innately individual way of connecting with the fashion debate. The cutting-edge, critically acclaimed designs, which are often bolstered by some technical innovation is the inspirational learning point to learn from her design.
